Dracut Chiropractor: Dr. Gerard Cassista
Chiropractic saved my life....literally!
When I was 3 years old, I fell off the top of a bunk bed and suffered a collapsed lung. I wasn't able to breath and because there was no 911 back then, too much time passed before I arrived at the hospital. The Drs. were unable to get the lung to inflate. They told my parents I would likely die that day or surly within a few days, and even if I didn't, I would be a "vegetable", basically brain dead due to the length of time without oxygen. My father was only a few months into chiropractic college and went to the school for help. He was able to sneak the anatomy teacher, who was a chiropractor up into my room at the hospital to give me my first chiropractic adjustment in hopes it might help. Immediately after that adjustment, my lung inflated all by itself, and two weeks later, I was home. I owe my life to chiropractic!
Education
I signed up at Palmer College of Chiropractic and was not prepared for the intensity or level of information I was about to be deluged with. It was like tying your mouth to a fire hydrant and turning it on full blast! The experience was life changing in so many ways. Learning how the body is able to completely take care of itself and heal itself if there is no interference was mind-blowing! Class after class, semester after semester all boiling down to that one big idea.
Because of my personal experience and after learning the things I did in school, I realized that pain relief care alone was not enough. I wanted to give people the opportunity to reach correction and wellness, so they not only felt good, they were good. Corrective care helps get the spine back to normal much like an orthodontist can make your mouth like new. People who are tired of having the same complaints over and over again are our best practice members. These are people who want to be well and stay well, not only for themselves, but for their families. They understand that bringing their children in for care is the best way to allow them to grow and develop to reach their fullest potential!
My Family
I have two beautiful daughters and a new son-in-law. My oldest, Emily, teaches anatomy and science in high school and also at a local community college. My younger daughter, Ali, is a hair stylist and excellent snowboarder.
I met my wife Lorraine in high school. She was the only girl I ever dated, took her to the prom and have been married since 1974. Dr. Lorraine is a chiropractor, has a degree in psychology, writes for our local newspaper and is a Life Coach. She has an excellent sense of humor, was a member of a professional improv comedy troop and never stops learning new things.
About Me
I love to stay active. I enjoy tennis, golf, racquetball, basketball, sailing, wakeboarding, water skiing, snowboarding and generally love to have a good time. One of my favorite things is to speak to groups, clubs and organizations. I love the feeling I get when I see light bulbs going on in peoples heads. Speaking is a close tie with tennis for what I love to do most.
I get chiropractic care at least once every two weeks so I can keep my active lifestyle. My children get chiropractic care once every 3 weeks. I enjoy regular workouts and completed my first triathlon at age 50.
But enough about me! All this training and all the high tech equipment at my office doesn't do you any good if I don't get to meet you. Give our office a call or email me with the link below and lets arrange a time to explore your options.
